KOPLAR PROPERTIES ANNOUNCES St. Louis, MO – August 27, 2003 – Edward
(Ted) Koplar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koplar Properties
announced today that Sam Koplar has joined the company as Vice President
of Property Development.
Sam’s responsibilities will include the development of the
company’s Central West End holdings in St. Louis as well as development
and utilization of Koplar Properties’ other real estate holdings,
including the exploration of potential real estate acquisitions.
In making the
announcement, Ted Koplar, stated, “Our family remains committed to the
Central West End. Sam’s
primary focus will be on Maryland Plaza and our property at the southeast
corner of Kingshighway and Lindell Boulevard. He will immediately begin
evaluating the feasibility of incorporating ideas from other urban areas
that are similar to the Central West End. He will work toward achieving a
positive consensus from the local neighborhood in order to justify the
level of investment we have earmarked to upgrade our holdings in that
area.” Though Koplar
Properties recently sold a large portion of the company’s Maryland Plaza
portfolio, it retained as part of the transaction, the Saks Building on
Maryland Avenue in the Central West End. The company also owns the premier
lot on the Southwest corner of Lindell at Kingshighway of St. Louis, as
well as property in Eureka and Lake Ozark, Missouri. Koplar Properties has a long
history of property development and management in the Central West End
dating back to when founder, Sam Koplar, built the Park Plaza hotel in
1929. Koplar Properties is an
